Tegas partners with the Peneraju Foundation to empower tech talent in Sarawak

The first cohort of the Tegas Tech Immersion Program will run from February through August 2023.
KUCHING (January 26): Sarawak Children’s Idea Economic Tube (Tegas) through its Digital Village and Digital Innovation Hub is partnering with Bumiputera Education Foundation (YPPB) for the Tegas 2023 Technology Immersion Program (TTIP) to be held at out from March to August this year.
The program seeks to empower the unemployed and recent graduates to boost their career in the digital innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, in line with the Sarawak Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
“The Tegas Tech Immersion program has been designed to offer local tech talent a comprehensive experience, from enhancing their existing skill sets, while expanding their mindset and experience through real-world projects, mentorship, and training.
“This program provides a technology training experience that connects tech talent more easily with new job opportunities,” said Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Management and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
TTIP was first introduced as a pilot program in 2022.
It gained the support of YPPB, who became Tegas’ first strategic partner for the program in 2023, while YPPB is an agency mandated to increase the quality, quantity, and relevance of bumiputera talent in a high-income economy. through academic education. financing programs for technical and professional education and training (TVET), professional, technological and certification of specialists.
YPPB has trained more than 46,000 talents across the country to date through its more than 370 funding programs and is meeting industry demand by providing a quality workforce.
The first cohort will take place from March to August of this year in collaboration with Tegas ecosystem partners and program alumni (startups), namely Petronas Digital, Moredoor, ERM Planet, FutureLab, Kloena Digital, UAS Mapping , Borneo Digital, Timogah, Satok Bridge Digital and much more.
“I would like to thank our strategic partner, Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera and all Tegas ecosystem partners for supporting this first residency program of its kind in Sarawak,” said the Tegas president.
Meanwhile, Tegas CEO Udin Bujang said that during this program, the participants will have a chance to be in charge of projects like improving the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of a website. , develop digital marketing strategies and campaigns as well as the design and development of new products.
He added that the participants will also have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the startup they are working with by being in charge of implementing a project within the startup, which in turn becomes an added value for their professional growth and portfolio.
“The positions available through Tegas ecosystem partners and alumni, among others, are Junior Game Developer, Junior Web Developer, Junior Mobile Developer, Junior Backend Developer, Junior Digital Marketing, and Junior Business Development.
“The benefits of the program include a monthly allowance of RM 1,500, as well as access to the Tegas Digital Village and Digital Innovation Hub in Kuching, Bintulu and Miri,” he said.
The program is open to Sarawakian Bumiputera who are unemployed and recent graduates with a CGPA of 2.50 or higher.
Other criteria also require that the participants be able to commit throughout the six months and be passionate about digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
