‘Teen Mom’ Maci Bookout lets go of ‘hate’ for ex Ryan Edwards
Maci Bookout is putting aside any “hate” she may have for her ex Ryan Edwards on season 2 of MTV’s “Teen Mom Family Reunion.”
The 31-year-old reality TV veteran, who shares son Bentley, 14, with Edwards, 34, tells Page Six during a virtual tour that she worked with life coach Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, aka “Coach B”, to lay the foundations for a “better” co-parenting relationship.
“Honestly, the main thing that made it clearer was the work that I had done on myself and getting over my anger, my hate at times, just working through all of that and pinpointing what is worth holding on to and what is worth letting go of. . go ahead,” explains Bookout.
“Knowing the difficult parts of my and Ryan’s relationship as co-parents, that makes it more comfortable for me, I would say,” she explains. “Not easier, but maybe a little more comfortable.”
The second installment of “Family Reunion” stars Bookout, Catelynn Lowell and Amber Portwood of “Teen Mom OG”, Briana DeJesus, Jade Cline and Ashley Jones of “Teen Mom 2” and Kayla Sessler and Kiaya Elliott of “Teen Mom Young & Pregnant”. .”
Some of the cast’s own moms join the journey, bonding with their famous daughters and employing therapy techniques to overcome any lingering issues.
Bookout’s mother, Sharon, was unable to make the trip to Oregon, giving the “Bulletproof” author more time to focus on mending her fractured dynamic with Edwards.
The former couple, who made their reality debut on “16 & Pregnant” in 2009, have faced a number of obstacles over the past decade in the public eye, including a broken engagement, Ryan’s apparent disinterest in the paternity and his eventual battle with addiction.
In September, Bookout told Page Six that she and Ryan “are not in a relationship,” haven’t spoken to each other in years, and didn’t even have each other’s cell phone numbers.
However, since then progress has been made.
We have your phone number [now]”, he reveals. “But any other details, you’ll just have to wait and see.”
Bookout further teases: “Everyone will find out what the state of everything is throughout this season. But Coach B really helped because we were able to determine what role I played in Bentley and Ryan’s relationship or lack of relationship.”
While the mother of three, who also shares daughter Jayde, 7, and son Maverick, 6, with husband Taylor McKinney, hopes to facilitate more communication with Edwards, she is relieved to be free of any obligation to do it on camera.
Edwards, who also shares young children Jagger and Stella with his wife Mackenzie Standifer, was fired from “Teen Mom OG,” which has since evolved into “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter” — in March 2021.
Standifer, 25, and Edwards’ parents, Jen and Larry Edwards, were also expelled.
Their outings came after a dramatic reunion fight, involving Bookout, her husband, McKinney, 33, and Bentley’s paternal grandparents, aired a month later.
“There was no way to create space for us to heal, move on, or get over some things because we constantly have to talk about each other when we’re not even talking. a each other,” Bookout told Page Six earlier this year.
“What’s the point in that? So yeah, it’s safe to say that’s a huge relief. [that he’s not on the show].”
Season 2 of “Teen Mom Family Reunion” airs Tuesday, January 3 at 8 pm ET on MTV.
