Nomad has just released a striking new color for its Sport Case and Sport Band. We put them to the test with our iphone and Apple Watch.
The Nomad Sport Case and Sport Band aren’t new, but the color is. High Volta debuts as a limited time offer, exclusive to these two Nomad SKUs.
nomad says appleinsider which plans to release new limited-edition colors regularly throughout the year.
If you’re familiar with Nike’s Volt colorway, you’ll be somewhat familiar with what Nomad has to offer.
Compared to Nike’s signature Volt, Nomad’s High Volta leans a bit more towards yellow. Still, it’s exceptionally bright and pairs well with any of the Nike watch faces on your Apple Watch.
Other faces look great too, and Apple gives you plenty of choice among the various styles and color options in watchOS.
nomad sport case
Nomad has long been well known for its patina-covered dark leather goods, but in recent years it has branched out. We have seen new styles of cases with materials other than leather.
One of the new styles is its Sport Case. It was initially released in a few masculine colorways such as Navy Blue, Ash Green, Lunar Grey, and Black, with High Volta being the latest limited edition option.
Nomad’s sport case has a high gloss finish on the back, bringing the vivid High Volta color to life. It still attracts fingerprints, though they’re less noticeable than on the darker color options.
The body is a run-of-the-mill TPE that provides extra grip and black contrast to the back. Looking closely at the sides, you’ll notice that the buttons are anodized aluminum.
The three buttons, the side button and the two volume buttons, are anodized in a light yellow color to complement the back of the High Volta.
Inside it has a soft microfiber lining with the Nomad logo and a circle, emblematic of its MagSafe support for. We tested a bunch of MagSafe attachments and they all worked, though the slick back felt a bit less reliable than its leather counterparts.
nomad sports band
As mentioned, we also got to test the High Volta edition of the Sports Band. It’s made for all the greatest apple watch models including 42mm, 44mm, 45mm and 49mm.
We’ve tested it with our other watches, but mostly use it with our new 49mm Apple Watch Ultra. With its bright yellow color, it looks striking with the rugged Apple Watch Ultra.
The Nomad Sport Band uses a flexible FKM rubber that is a fluoroelastomer similar to what Apple uses in its sports bands. Between it and Apple’s, this one feels a bit more rubbery and a bit stiffer.
In use, it’s a bit stiff, but we like that it’s not too thick, which would probably make our wrists ache.
There is a metal clasp that has the Nomad logo on the wrist side and a pin that fits into the receiving end of the watch band. The excess strap tucks into the band and sits comfortably close to your wrist.
The bottom of the band has ventilation channels that help allow water and air to move, which also contributes to comfort.
Available now
We’re big fans of this high-octane colorway from Nomad that’s been used on two of their most popular products. It won’t be around for long, so if you want to try it yourself, you need to act ASAP.
