I got told to ‘cover up’ during my workout but I ignore the ‘gym Karens’ and sweat in my sports bra

ONE woman is not letting “gym Karens” ruin her day as she gets fit.

Taking to social media, exercise enthusiast Janelle Clarke shared what a woman at the gym said to her about her workout wear.

“To the lady in the gym who told me ‘you should cover up,'” Clarke wrote in her TikTok video.

She appeared to be doing cardio on a treadmill as she wore a sports bra – it had ruching in the middle, exposing a bit of cleavage.

Clarke looked unbothered as she took a sip from her water bottle, suggesting that she would continue to wear whatever she wants.

“#GymKarens,” she wrote in her video’s caption.

Some people in the comments section of the clip seemed to take issue with her gym look.

“But men will get in trouble for not having a shirt on,” one wrote.

“It was rude of her to say that but I can understand … Some [people] may be scared of tattoos,” another suggested.

“Well of course you will get more attention wearing this, let’s be real here,” a third chimed in.

Other people came to the gym goer’s defense.

“I’m missing what’s wrong? Why does she get an opinion of your outfit?” one demanded.

“The amount of people that can’t mind their business is staggeringgggg,” another added.

“I’m willing to bet her husband uses the same gym and she doesn’t want him admiring you. They only care if their man looks,” another person wrote.

“Because she’s jealous and you make her insecure about her own body? You have nothing to do with that, not your problem,” a final person wrote.
