Hitman III will change its name to Hitman: World of Assassination on January 26

Always expanding, always dangerous. It will never stop challenging you.”

In 2015, we shared our vision for the murder world; an ever-expanding game that would evolve over time and be the foundation for the future Hitman games. Those were the exact words we used and a central promise of how we delivered all three games in the seven years that followed.

Today, we’re excited to announce some upcoming changes to the way our players (both existing and new) will experience, access, and purchase hitman me, Hitman IIY HITMAN III. These changes will make it easier than ever to get in and enjoy the murder world—and ultimately enable us to realize the vision we set out to achieve.

As of January 26, 2023, the following changes are scheduled to take effect.

Hitman III will become hitman: world of assassinationwhich will also include access to hitman me Y Hitman II through our existing Access Pass system. Current Hitman III owners will get a free upgrade to hitman: world of assassination on all platforms.

We are drastically simplifying the purchasing experience for new players. hitman: world of assassination will be the only option available to start playing.

Essentially, these two changes will mean that all new and existing players Hitman III owners will have the same base content ownership. There will be no more confusion about which edition to buy, what content you own, how to redeem legacy packs or import locations, etc. We’re done with that.

■ The murder world

We are approaching these changes with a no-compromise approach. We want to make absolutely sure that the experience of entering or enjoying the murder world it is simple and direct.

Let’s break it down. We are simplifying the (many) offers currently in stores to two products. These will replace existing ways of shopping hitman me, Hitman IIeither HITMAN III.

• hitman: world of assassination (approx. $70 USD or local equivalent)
  • It includes: Hitman IIIplus Hitman I Game of the Year access pass and Hitman II Standard access pass.
• hitman: world of assassination deluxe package (approx. $30 USD or local equivalent)
  • It includes: Hitman III deluxe package, Hitman III Collection of the Seven Deadly Sins, and Hitman II Expansion Access Pass.

That’s it. Those are the only two products new players should consider when purchasing any Hitman I play digitally as of January 26, 2023.

■ Player-friendly flexibility

We want the experience for new players to be simple and concrete. We believe that the above changes will achieve this. However, for existing players, covering a large array of different property combinations, we’re being a bit more flexible, but still with a strong focus on simplicity.

The reason for this flexibility is that we know that many of you have certain games or DLC, but not others, and we don’t want to force anyone to (re)purchase what they already have. We think that’s reason enough to have some options, but these options won’t be the focus for new players. The idea is to keep these details visible to those who may need them.

Steam completes the set

On Steam, we will be implementing ‘complete the set’ functionality for the three DLC packs included in the hitman: world of assassination Deluxe Package (Hitman III deluxe package, Hitman III Collection of the Seven Deadly Sins, and Hitman II Expansion Access Pass). This will mean that you will only pay your fair share for any content that you do not own. For example, if you own two of the DLCs, you’ll only pay $10 for the remaining DLC, instead of paying the full price of the full Deluxe package.

On other platforms, we’ve added each individual DLC from the new hitman: world of assassination Deluxe Package (Hitman III deluxe package, Hitman III Collection of the Seven Deadly Sins, and Hitman II Expansion Access Pass) to the in-game store, again at a split price ($10 USD each). If you own some (but not all) of that content, you’ll be able to buy what you’re missing, at a new, reduced price.

Changes in the storefront

An important detail that we want to make clear between these changes is that we are removing the standalone version hitman me Y Hitman II selling products on all platforms. If you already own these games, you’ll still be able to access them in exactly the same way as you do today. Of course, most of the content included in these games is still playable through hitman: world of assassinationwith all the improvements that were introduced with Hitman III.

On that note, and for clarity, Hitman III will remain available in its current standalone form until the next hitman: world of assassination.

■ Final thoughts

We are absolutely sure that these changes will have a very positive effect on both existing and new players. It will also make our lives much easier, there is no doubt about that.

For many gamers, it will mean free content to enjoy. For others, it will mean significantly cheaper DLC prices. For new players, who probably aren’t reading this here, you will have a much better experience buying Hitman games.

Changes have also been made with the Freelancer game mode in mind, where being able to easily access all World of Assassination locations is critical to maximizing your enjoyment.
