Cincinnati Reds ‘Mr. Perfect Tom Browning dies at 62
Former Cincinnati Reds pitcher Tom Browning has died, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. He was 62 years old. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office was called to Browning’s home Monday around 1:01 p.m. on a report of a man not breathing. Agents found a man, identified as Browning, unconscious on the couch inside the home. EMS attempted life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful. Browning was pronounced dead at 1:13 p.m. No crime is suspected in connection with Browning’s death. The Boone County Coroner’s Office has taken possession of his remains and will turn them over to a funeral home chosen by the family, the sheriff’s office confirmed. Browning is the only Reds pitcher to throw a perfect game. The former Cincinnati Red pitched MLB’s 12th perfect game in 1988, shutting out the Los Angeles Dodgers 1-0 at Riverfront Stadium. We join Reds Country in grieving the loss of our all-time greats, who created so many memories and moments magical to all of us. Our deepest condolences to Tom’s family during this difficult time.” Fellow Red Barry Larkin paid tribute to Browning, sharing a tweet “RIP my friend Mr. Perfect Tom Browning. We shared some great moments as well as the same birthday 4/28. We will miss you.”
